We are proud to announce that Fredericksburg Technology has been honored with a 2025 Sustainability Award from the Fredericksburg Clean and Green Commission — our second consecutive year receiving this recognition. This award reflects our continued and deepening commitment to environmental responsibility in how we operate our business, serve our clients, and contribute to the Fredericksburg community.
Being recognized again by the City of Fredericksburg reinforces what we have always believed: that technology companies have both the opportunity and the responsibility to model sustainable practices. We are grateful to the Clean and Green Commission for this honor.
A New Office Built for Sustainability
One of the most significant changes to our operations this year was relocating to a new office space. The move was not just about growth — it was a deliberate decision to reduce our environmental footprint. Our new location features:
Abundant natural light: Large windows and an open floor plan reduce our dependence on artificial lighting throughout the workday, meaningfully lowering electrical consumption per square foot.
Modern, energy-efficient fixtures: All lighting and electrical fixtures in the new space are Energy Star–rated, replacing older, less efficient equipment.
Right-sized footprint: A thoughtfully sized space means we are heating, cooling, and lighting only what we actually use — reducing unnecessary energy draw.
These choices reflect our broader philosophy: that sustainability starts with intentional decisions, even small ones, and compounds over time.
Continuing Our Core Sustainability Programs
In addition to the new office, we continued our established sustainability initiatives throughout 2025:
E-Waste Recycling & Refurbishing: We continue to provide no-cost electronics recycling and refurbishing services to clients and the public, diverting functional and end-of-life equipment from landfills.
Device Donations: Decommissioned devices with remaining useful life are donated to local organizations including Micah Ecumenical Ministries and the Fredericksburg SPCA, extending the productive life of technology rather than discarding it.
Energy-Efficient Client Solutions: We prioritize Energy Star–certified equipment when designing and deploying systems for clients, helping them reduce both their carbon footprint and their utility costs.
Community Support: We continue to support local environmental and conservation organizations through financial contributions and volunteer participation.
Looking Ahead
Receiving this award for a second consecutive year is both an honor and a motivator. As we grow, we are committed to ensuring our operations remain aligned with our environmental values. Looking forward, we plan to:
Help more clients understand how technology decisions — from hardware purchasing to cloud migration — can reduce their own environmental impact.
Maintain transparency with our team and clients about the sustainability choices embedded in how we run our business.
Thank you to the City of Fredericksburg and the Clean and Green Commission for this recognition. And thank you to our clients, team, and community partners who make this work possible. To read the City’s official press release, visit: fredericksburgva.gov.
